Helping foodservice operators protect customers from foodborne illness 

Food Safety is a critical part to building a culture & image of cleanliness.


A recent study by the Indian Journal of Public Health (IJPH) showed that cabbage and other leafy green vegetables are the largest source of foodborne illnesses in India. Each year, about 100 million people get sick from eating contaminated leafy vegetables and raw fruits. Water alone won’t kill the illness-causing pathogens – so our foodservice customers needed a way to ensure their fruits and vegetables wouldn’t make people sick.

Actions

We responded by developing Antimicrobial Fruit and Veggies Wash, a breakthrough product that reduces the risk of foodborne illness outbreaks related to ineffective produce washing in foodservice operations. Natural Care Fruits & Veggies Wash reduces 99.9 percent of the pathogens E. coli, Listeria and Salmonella in wash water*. It is the industry’s first no-rinse produce wash for whole produce - fruits and veggies, raw meat and for surfaces used to cut fruits and vegetables.

Outcomes

Natural Care Fruits & Veggies Wash doesn’t just remove contaminants that cause illness – it also enhances the appearance of produce, reduces bacteria that cause spoilage and leaves no smell or aftertaste. The concentrated formulation makes using the product as easy as turning on a tap, and one sink-full can clean a day’s supply of fresh fruits and vegetables – up to 200 pounds – making it affordable, easy and efficient to use in a busy commercial kitchen.

Our result oriented solutions makes it easier for Royal Orchid franchisees to deliver clean efficient results to their guests while also reducing their overall water and energy use.

The Everyday Essentials team also worked with the hospitality chain team to find new ways to make cleaning simpler and more sustainable. Solutions that streamlined the cleaning process — helping Royal Orchid locations remain pristine.
